A musical “Journey-Maker” who brings an honest and refreshing take on the classic singer/songwriter acoustic scene. With vulnerable vocal melodies and soulful guitar playing, Matt JR Hurley brings a vision of hope and a passion to bless through the music he creates.
January 2016 saw Matt reach the top ten of “A Step Forward” Christian music chart and since then he has featured on radio shows and a variety of different gigs ranging from festivals to pub concerts and Church events.
At the end of June 2016 Matt released his debut EP ‘Raising Questions.’ Exploring the big questions of love, life and why through the eyes of Faith, Matt explores the depth and meaning to a persons life through their struggles.
2017 and 2018 saw Matt play a variety of different shows across the country, ranging from festivals such as ‘Rivercamp’ and ‘Kingstock’, to well know venues such as The Fleece, Bristol and The Dublin Castle, Camden. Matt continues to share his heartfelt, folksy tunes at various venues across the country.
The end of 2018 marked a new stage of music in Matt’s journey. Having met Singer/Songwriter April Shipton at a songwriters retreat in the Cotswold’s, a new collaboration was born. With similar challenges and struggles in life and a story of faith, they both began ‘Beyond the Mountain.’ A movement that states that there is hope beyond the challenges of life. ‘What Am I?’ is the latest track released by Matt in October 2019. It’s a lament that asks the question of what drives us in the midst of being ‘broken down.’ The striking cover photo was taken by Clare Shapcott Photography.
